Adding Inert Gas
What's the difference between adding an inert gas at constant pressure vs. adding an inert gas at constant volume to a reaction in regards to the effect on equilibrium?

What is considered an inert gas? Do we have to remember a list of them or is there a way to tell if a gas is inert?

My TA said that inert gas is another term for noble gases. The common ones we might see in reactions are He and Ar.

An inert gas is just any noble gas.

Re: Adding Inert Gas
An inert gas is another term for noble gas. Also, the addition of an inert gas, for example argon or krypton, to a reaction will have no effect on the system.

An inert gas is basically a noble gas. They are nonreactive as their octets are full

Re: Adding Inert Gas
If the pressure of the reaction increased by adding inert gas(noble gas) there will be no effect on P&R concentration and no effect on the reaction.

and inert gas is a gas that has 8 valence electrons. So they are on the rightmost column of the periodic table.
