Strong Acid Question

Postby Laila Alkhouri 3H » Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:03 pm

What would the acid be categorized as if it loses H+ easily but the resulting anion is not stable? Would it still be a strong acid, or would it be a weak acid?

If an acid easily loses H+, it is likely unstable with the H+, and losing the H+ likely makes it more stable, so I don't think this scenario is possible. Do you have an example of an acid in which the loss of the H+ makes it more unstable?

If this were possible, it still would not be a strong acid because it would be unable to maintain its ionic state in the solution if it was so unstable, regardless of how easily it lost the h atom.
