Strength of oxoacids

Why would the strength of acidity go HClO > HBrO > HIO, if the bond length increases as the atomic radius gets bigger. Shouldn't the order be the opposite since I has the biggest bond length making it easier to remove the H.

Hi! For these oxoacids, you must consider the electronegativities because the more electronegative the central atom is, the stronger the acid will be. The electronegativity between the 3 would be Cl > Br > I based on the periodic trend. Since all three have the same amount of oxygen atoms, the resulting strength of acidity will be HClO > HBrO > HIO.
