can someone please explain what a bronsted acid is?

A bronsted acid is a chemical species that can donate a proton. An example is CH3COOH (acetic acid).

A bronsted acid is a substance that gives up or donates hydrogen ions during a chemical reaction.

A bronsted acid is a molecule that gives up a proton, or a hydrogen atom, to another molecule.

A bronstead acid is a proton donor that accepts an electron pair. Examples of these are hydrochloric acid or hydrobromic acid.

Donating a proton is a Bronsted Acid, Accepting a proton is a bronsted base.
