Neutralization Reactions
What are neutralization reactions and how do we write one if we were given an acid & base?

Re: Neutralization Reactions
Neutralization reactions occur between acids and bases and produce salt and water. We would write them as we write any other chemical equation. For example: HCl(aq) + NaOH(aq). ---> NaCl(aq) + H20(l). HCl is the acid, NaOH is the base, and the resulting NaCl is the salt.

Re: Neutralization Reactions
A neutralization reaction is an acid and base reacting with each other to form a water and salt. Keep in mind that water is only formed when the base is strong. To write one, usually you take an H+ away from the acid and add it to OH- in the base (and the cation of the base reacts with the acid with its H+ removed), forming H20 and another compound.

Re: Neutralization Reactions
A neutralization reaction is a reaction between an acid and a base that produces water and a salt. As far as writing the reaction goes, the best method is to: for the products, pair the OH of the base and the H of the acid to form water. Then, use what is left over from the acid and base to form the salt molecule.

Re: Neutralization Reactions
Neutralization is a reaction between an acid and a base that forms a salt. An example of how you may have to write a reaction is if you are given a strong acid (the acid) and a metal hydroxide (the base) in water. The acid and the base are the reactants. The product is a salt with a cation provided by the metal of the metal hydroxide and an anion provided by the strong acid. Another product is water.

Re: Neutralization Reactions
Neutralization reactions occur between an acid and a base and result in salt and possibly water. When writing one, a positively charged hydrogen should be added to OH-, with the remaining amount forming the salt (and water, if the base is strong)

Re: Neutralization Reactions
Neutralization reactions is when an acid and a base react to form water and a salt by pairing the OH with H (acid and base).

Re: Neutralization Reactions
Neutralization reactions are between an acid and base to form a salt and water. An example would be like the reaction btwn a strong acid HCl and strong base NaOH to form NaCl (table salt) and water. This type of reaction is also reversible and the overall pH would be expected to be around the neutral pH level of 7.

Re: Neutralization Reactions
A neutralization reaction is when an acid and a base react to form water and a salt and involves the combination of H+ ions and OH- ions to generate water.
