How weak is a weak acid

Postby Michaela Evans 1A » Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:51 pm

For biological systems, how strong does an acid need to be to start doing some damage, assuming our body doesn't deal with it before hand?

Hi,
I think it ranges for the different parts of the body as it requires different acidities for specific roles. Like the stomach needs to digest things so it can and has to be very acidic whereas the eyes would not like it to be so acidic so I think it just depends.

A strong acid within biological systems will have a very low PH. For example, our stomach acid ranges from 1.5 to 3.5, both of which are considered as extremely acidic.
