Can someone clarify why Oxides are strong bases?

I believe oxides are strong bases due to their very small size and high charge.

O2- is a very strongly basic anion due to its very small size and high charge. Hope this helps!

because of their small size and high charge, it makes it easier to dissociate. Because of how easily the bonds break, it is a strong acid.
