amphoteric oxides

I know there is a diagonal band of amphoteric oxides, but is the only way to know which oxides are in this band by memorizing them? Or is the another way to know which are amphoteric?

In Lecture Lavelle said we should just commit them to memory. The staircase that is similar to that of the metalloids can be a good guiding line for which oxides this includes.

They are BeO, Al2O3, Ga2O3, SnO2, Sb2O5, and PbO6.
