what should we know about amphoteric oxides?

They have both basic and acidic character, meaning that they can react with bases and acids. The elements around the diagonal line of metalloids typically form amphoteric oxides (such as BeO, Al2O3, Ga2O3)

Know which metal oxides are amphoteric. (BeO, Al2O3, Ga2O3, SnO2, Sb2O5, PbO2)

As everyone is mentioning, it would probably be useful to know the amphoteric oxides themselves, which is something you have to memorize. It's in the textbook (page 450), and he may ask us questions about them on the final. Hope this helps!
