Are we required to memorize the amphoteric oxides?

I think it is a good idea to know general atoms that make an oxide amphoteric such as Al and Be, but it’s not a bad idea to know the actual formulas too.

Memorizing the oxides (group 1 and 2 and all the nonmetals) and that great acids and bases are generally good. The ones that aren't in that list would be considered amphoteric. This is generally how I like to think of it.

It's always helpful to memorize but I don't think it's necessary

Memorizing the amphoteric oxides is really helpful!
