Amphoteric Oxides

How can we determine whether an oxide like As2O3 or Bi2O3 will be amphoteric?

I think the main way to tell is just that amphoteric oxides follow a diagonal line along the metalloids. The oxides with elements on the left side of the periodic table are basic and those with elements on the right side of the periodic table are acidic, so those in between are amphoteric. These amphoteric oxides would be BeO, Al2O3, Ga2O3, In2O3, GeO2, SnO and SnO2, PbO and PbO2, As2O3, Sb2O3, and Bi2O3 according to the textbook, but there may be some different ways amphoteric oxides are classified.

Since the diagonal band of amphoteric oxides really closely correlates to the metalloids on the periodic table, I'd say mainly focus on that. Also looking at the molecule's net charge also helps too.
