lewis acids and bases

Postby Aizelle Estacio 2A » Tue Nov 05, 2024 11:24 pm

What is the difference between lewis acids and bases? How do you know if something is an acid or a base?

The difference between Lewis acids and bases is that Lewis acids accept an electron pair in a coordinate covalent bond, while Lewis bases donate an electron pair. You can determine whether something is an acid or base by identifying whether there is a positive or negative charge on an ion or molecule, or by determining if a molecule has a partially filled valence shell or a valence shell with a single pair of electrons.
