Lewis Base and Lone Pair

Postby Aeneas Mires DIS 1F » Tue Nov 12, 2024 9:59 am

I know that a Lewis Base is a chemical atom or molecule that donates a pair of electrons to another molecules. Does this mean that any atom or molecule that has a Lewis structure with a lone pair on the central atom make it a Lewis Base?

yes, any atom or molecule with a lone pair on its central atom can be considered a Lewis Base because a lone pair signifies the availability of electrons to donate to another atom
