Lone Pairs and Bases/Acids

How do lone pairs tell us that a molecule is a base or acid?

Hello,
An acid is a compound that wants to accept an additional pair of electrons from a base. The base is donating a pair of electrons. IF it has lone pairs, then it can be a lewis base as it can donate its electron pair to an acid.

Lone pairs can be useful in telling us if something is a Lewis acid or base because a molecule that needs a lone pair to be stable would be a lewis acid and a molecule with a lone pair to donate would be a lewis base.

lone pairs can help us determine if something is a lewis acid or lewis base. if the molecule needs (is accepting) a lone pair in order to become stable, it is a lewis acid.
