Strong acid+weak base

Postby JennyCKim1J » Fri Dec 01, 2017 10:23 am

Is the conjugate base for strong acid weak base or strong base? Does it differ between Lewis acid/base & Bronsted acid/base?

The conjugate base of a strong acid placed in water is a week base. The conjugate acid of a strong base is a weak acid. I believe this should be true for both lewis and bronsted. Lewis definitions just include a wider array of acids and bases than bronsted.

The conjugate for a strong acid is a weak base and a conjugate for a strong base is a weak acid. I am pretty sure that this applies to Bronsted acids/bases.
