if im correct a bronsted base is a proton acceptor and a bronstead acid is a proton donor.
a lewis acid is an electron donor and a lewis base is an electron acceptor.

A Bronsted acid is a proton donor, and a Bronsted base is a proton acceptor. A Lewis acid is an electron acceptor, and a base is an electron donor.

To add to the previous posts, the Lewis Acids/Bases are referring to electrons, while the Bronsted Acids/Bases are referring to protons. That is the main difference between them. Also if you compare them, Bronsted is opposite to Lewis in terms of accepting or donating.

In what scenarios do elements use their bronsted definition and when do they use their lewis definition? In other words, are there certain types of reactions that use one of the definitions more often?

while lewis and bronsted acids and bases are reversed in roles- Lewis acids accept while bronzed acids donate- the main difference is that Lewis acids and bases involve the donation and acceptance of electrons while bronzed acids and bases are talking about protons.

Generally, we're just asked if a certain molecule or compound in a reaction is a Lewis/Bronsted acid/base. You go based off the aforementioned definitions and then figure out what it is.
