Protons are lewis acids?

Why is it that lewis acids are H+ (protons) and are protons the only lewis acid there is?

Lewis acids are H+ protons because they are the ones who are able to receive an electron pair. There are some metal complexes that are also acids, but then again they become acids after dissociation.

Hello,
I like to think about it in terms of charges. If an acid is a proton, which is positively charged, it is an electron acceptor (electrons have a negative charge).

are acids always an electron acceptor or are there acids which are negatively charged?

From the definitions given to us in class by Dr. Lavelle, Lewis acids are electron acceptors, meaning it wouldn't make sense for them to be negatively charged because a negatively charged atoms or molecules wouldn't want more electrons.

One of the UA's said that its positively charged when its a proton, but when it accepts its the opposite.
