How can you determine the name of an acid?

There unfortunately is not just one way that I can tell you how to name acids. There are a set of rules, similar to the naming of a compound, that tell you what the name of the acid would be. They have rules for when the anion ends in ate vs ite etc.

The list of homework questions for the acids and bases unit includes a question that asks you to name acids based on their structure. But like the previous answer states, the naming rules are unique to acids and bases. Since it hasn't been touched upon in lecture, I am going to assume it will not appear on the final; however I will ask during a review session to make sure.
