I get that lewis acids are electron acceptors and lewis bases are electron donors but say you had an ion such as F-
Would F- be a lewis acid or a lewis base? Because it has a full octet id assume lewis base but i’m not sure

Re: Identifying Acids and Bases
F- is a Lewis base because it can donate electrons, such as it picking up hydrogen to form HF.

What acids and bases (strong and weak) would be helpful to memorize?

Memorize all strong acids and bases (there aren't that many). Then you will know that all other acids/bases are weak.

Thanks! If anyone is wondering, in the 6th edition of the textbook, Table J.1 lists strong acids and bases.
