Salts that contain the conjugate base (anion) of a weak acid will raise the pH by removing protons from H2O thus generating OH- 's. Na+ doesn't react with the hydrolysis of water. Remember in lecture when Dr. Lavelle said if the tomato sauce tasted really acidic, adding table salt wouldn't do anything.
