Strong Acids

Postby 805291863 » Sun Nov 24, 2019 2:56 pm

Are HCl, HBr, HNO3, and H2SO4 the only strong acids we are required to know? What about HI and HClO4?

No, you need to know all of them I'm pretty sure.

I think you need to know most, if not, all of the strong acids and how to classify a strong acid.

Those may have been the ones that he explicitly mentioned in class, but it is important to know conceptually what characterizes them as strong acids and be able to determine what other compounds are also strong bases based on this understanding.

As the textbook mentions all of these as strong acids, I would try to remember that they are all strong acids. Additionally, I think it is important to know not only that they are all strong acids, but also what makes them all strong acids.

I would try to remember all the strong acids, just in case, seeing as there isn't too many to memorize.

I would try to memorize all the strong acids (HCl, HNO3, H2SO4, HBr, HI, HClO4, and HCl03). A common mnemonic to remember them is I, Cl, Br, No, Clo, Clo, So.

I would suggest to simply try and memorize s many as you can simply because there aren't that many that the textbook shows.

What are the ones that we're supposed to know?
