Bonds and pH
Why is it that short strong bonds are less acidic and long weaker bonds have more acidic components?

Shorter bonds means that the hydrogen is held more strongly to the central molecule so that when put into a solvent, there are less hydrogen atoms that are pulled off. Therefore, it is less acidic.
Longer bonds mean that the hydrogen is held more weakly so that it is easier to pull it off when put into a solvent. Therefore, it is more acidic because there are more hydrogen in the solvent.

The stronger/short the bond, the less likely it is to dissociate in water. This means that with longer bonds, the hydrogen is more easily released when it comes in contact with a base, so the ratio of molecules that dissociate for molecules with longer bonds is higher making it a stronger acid.

the longer and weaker a bond is, the more likely it is to be soluble in water and dissociate. it is the opposite for short and strong bonds

Shorter bonds are stronger, and so they are less likely to dissociate in water whereas longer bonds are weaker and so more likely to dissociate in water.
