Properties of Bases

Does anyone know why bases have a soapy feel like Lavelle mentioned in class?

They react with fatty acids on the surface of your skin and produce the soapy feeling.

I googled this and found that bases feel soapy when we touch them because our skin has fatty acids, and the bases react with these fatty acids to actually create some soap on our skin, leading to the soapy feeling.

it's because bases reacts with oils & fatty acids on your skin (basically dissolves them), which removes friction, leading to that soapy feeling.
