Postby Ian Morris 3C » Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:10 pm

Is there a list of the most important strong/ weak acids and bases that we should memorize for the final.

I’d like to add that strong bases include group 1 hydroxides, alkaline earth metal hydroxides, and group 1 and 2 oxides.

Just a little trick for acids, most polyatomic ions that end in "ate", like nitrate and carbonate and sulfate, make strong acids (but not all)

For future reference regarding the bases, I think BeO (despite being a group 2 oxide) is actually an amphoteric oxide, not a base.
