You would use it to determine how much of the weak acid dissociated. I don't think you'll have to worry about it in this class since Lavelle said we're only dealing with strong acids and bases this quarter. The closer K is to 1, the stronger the acid

This formula is used to calculate concentrations of weak acids by setting up an equilibrium. This is only used for weak acids because they are not completely ionized in the solution, unlike strong acids.

The Ka value can be used to compare the strengths of different acids, though I don't think we'll be required to actually calculate it in this class.

The Ka is the dissociation constant that tells you how much of the acid is dissociated in the solution. You can use it to determine the strength of the acid or predict the concentration of the acid or base in the solution.
