Strong Acids and Strong Bases

Postby Andrew Nguyen 2K » Sun Nov 28, 2021 5:02 pm

Are we expected to memories all of the strong acids and bases? Not only for the final but also for the rest of the Chem 14 series?

I would recommend memorizing the strong acids and bases (they are listed in Table J.1 in the textbook) to make it easier to differentiate different types of acids and bases when given a problem.

I don't think we are expected to have all strong acid and bases memorized but we should know the examples he talked about in lecture. Also it is helpful to know that metal oxides react with water to form stronger bases. Could someone clarify if we should have all of them memorized though?

I think memorizing them would be helpful, especially because knowing which are strong allows you to recognize if an acid or base is weak.

It's recommended that you memorize them to make calculations and conclusions easier.
