Lewis Acids and Bases on Tests

Postby 205696343 » Mon Nov 29, 2021 5:09 pm

If we see the general terminology of "acid" or "base" on a test should we assume that this is referring to the Bronsted definition of acid and base rather than the lewis or Arrhenius definition of acids and bases? Alongside that question, will there always be specificity in reference to which acid and base type we should be analyzing in a certain problem (will the problem explicitly state.. in the case of a lewis base or in reference to the Arrhenius definition of an acid)?

Questions could ask generically about acids and bases or be explicit about a particular type of acid or base.
