How does more Oxygen affect the strength of acids and bases?

Oxygen is a highly electronegative atom. When oxygen is present in a molecules, it pulls the electrons from H towards the oxygen. The more oxygen that is present in an acid, the more easily the acid dissociates. Thus, more oxygen typically means a stronger acid.
