Memorizing acids and bases

Postby Zoe 1I » Mon Jan 29, 2024 4:58 pm

Does anyone know with certainty if we're supposed to have strong/weak acids and bases memorized?

I found this list:
https://lavelle.chem.ucla.edu/wp-conten ... _Bases.pdf

But are we really expected to have all of these memorized? If so, do we need to know their names as well as well as their chemical formulas? Is it enough to just have a basic idea of what would likely be strong or weak and an acid or base and why?

Hi,
Yes, We should have the strong acids and bases memorized, and assume anything else is a weak acid/base if it's not on the list! I think we should memorize both the name and formula of the acids and bases with the list provided.

Hope this helps!
