Strong Acids and Bases
Do strong acids and bases always dissociate 100%? Are there any cases in which they won't dissociate completely?

Re: Strong Acids and Bases
From what we have learned in class strong acids and bases are supposed to completely ionize. In the scenario where they do not dissociate completely they are automatically considered a weak acid or base.

Re: Strong Acids and Bases
So if you are just given the grams of a strong acid and the volume of the solution, how would you calculate the pH of the solution??

Re: Strong Acids and Bases [ENDORSED]
Convert the grams to moles.
Then divide moles by volume to obtain the acid concentration.
Strong acids are completely dissociated, therefore: acid concentration = [H3O+]
Then divide moles by volume to obtain the acid concentration.
Strong acids are completely dissociated, therefore: acid concentration = [H3O+]
