Memorizing Acids and Bases

Postby DanielleNario1A » Fri Nov 30, 2018 8:58 pm

Should strong/weak acids and bases be memorized or is there a way to identify them without memorization?

I covered this in detail in Friday's class.
Make sure to get someone's lecture note and discuss it one of the many peer learning sessions I organized.

Definitely general trends: Metal oxides and hydroxides are basic, etc.

Also, usually you can tell if it is a bigger molecule and only dissociates partly e.g. CH3COOH, it will be a weaker base
