How do I know if something is a strong base?

Grp 1 and grp 2 oxides are the strong bases.

Strong bases usually have [OH-] in the compound.

Strong bases usually have a cation from groups one or two and then either an oxide or hydroxide at the end.

Strong bases are ones that completely dissolve in an aqueous solution. Some very familiar strong bases that you might come across and recognize immediately are NaOH, KOH,.... etc. Most likely any with hydroxide attached to it.
