A compound is amphoteric if it can act as an acid and a base. You can identify that a molecule is amphoteric if it can both accept and donate an electron.

A compound is amphoteric if it can react as both a base and acid. For example, H2O is amphoteric because in a reaction with HCl it produces H3O+ ions (H2O + HCl --> H3O+ Cl-). In a reaction with NH3, H2O reacts to create OH- ions (H2O + NH3 --> OH- + NH4+).

A substance can be identified as amphoteric if it can act as both an acid and a base. To test this you can see if the compound can both accept and donate an electron with whatever it is reacting with. Water is amphoteric because it can donate or accept an electron depending on what it is reacting with.

A compound is amphoteric if it can act as both an acid and a base. You can identify an amphoteric compound by seeing if it has a proton able to donate, and also if it can accept a proton.

A compound is amphoteric if it can act as an acid and a base. For #2 it talks about Bronsted. So if it acts like a Bronsted base and acid, then for the Bronsted acid you need an H+ so it can be donated, and for the base, you need a negative charge so you can accept an H+.
