Moles of product

Postby Lara Almeida 3D » Fri Dec 03, 2021 5:59 am

How do we calculate how many moles of H3O+ and HO- a a acid and a base will yield when interacting with water?

Since we are only dealing with calculating moles or molar concentrations of strong acids and bases, we can assume that a strong acid or base will completely dissociate in water. Because of this, the moles or molar concentration of the strong acid or base will equal that of H3O+ or OH- depending on if it is an acid or base.

Since we are only dealing with calculating the moles or H+ or -OH of strong acids and bases, you can expect them to completely dissolve and produce equal moles of H+ or -OH.
