Conjugate Bases/Acids in solution

Postby Maria George 3K » Wed Jan 24, 2024 2:48 pm

I was wondering how we can tell which conjugate bases/acids contribute to or affect the pH in solution? I know that group 1 and group 2 metal cations do not, but is there anything else? Thank you!

I think it is based off of the strength of the acid/base and how well it ionizes. I think the group 1 and 2 cations are the only ones we have to worry about!

Hi! I'm pretty sure that conjugate acids/bases of strong acids/bases are so weak that they have virtually no effect on pH.
