Using the pka or ka of a conjugate acid

Postby Vrinda Mahajan 3a » Tue Jan 30, 2024 6:52 pm

Can I use the pKa, pKb, Ka, or Kb of a conjugate acid or base to solve an ice table, if there is no Ka/Kb value given for the reactant?

You would use the ka or kb of the conjugate

If there is no Ka/Kb given in the problem, we can assume that we're working with a strong acid/base which dissociates completely.
