### Question 12.23

Could someone please explain part b) of the question? In the solutions manual it says [OH-]=[H3O+], that is because the temperature of both are the same in the question yes?

### Re: Question 12.23

Hi!

I think because the ratio of $H_{3}O^{+}$ ions and $OH^{-}$ ions is 1:1 in the chemical equation: $2H_{2}O (l)\rightleftharpoons H_{3}O^{+}(aq)+ OH^{-}(aq)$ and because the conditions for both ions are the exact same, they must have the same molarity.
