A conjugate base is the compound that is formed when an acid loses its hydrogen.

For example, Cl- would be the conjugate base of HCl.

A Conjugate base is a substance formed when an acid loses a hydrogen ion. Considered a base because it can gain a hydrogen ion to reform the acid.

The conjugate base is what is formed when an acid loses a hydrogen atom in a chemical equation. It is a base because it is a proton acceptor that receives an H atom from the proton donor or acid.

When in an acid loses a hydrogen atom in a chemical reaction, the formed compound is called the conjugate base.

A conjugate base is what is formed when an acid releases its acidic hydrogen (a proton)

Additionally, the conjugate acid works the same way. The conjugate acid of a base is the compound formed when the base accepts a proton.
