Bases produce conjugate acids and acids produce conjugate bases. If the acid is a strong acid, its conjugate base is a weak base and vice versa.

In more detail, a conjugate base is produced when an acid donates a proton, and a conjugate acid is produced when a base accepts a proton.

A conjugate acid is what is created when the base receives a proton as it dissociates in an aqueous solution. Conjugate acids are weak acids because they can now donate the proton they received back to where they received it from to become a base again (this act of donating a proton makes it an acid).
A conjugate base is the opposite – it is what is formed when an acid dissociates and loses a proton. It is a weak base since it can gain back the proton that it donated previously, thus reverting back to the original acid.

The stronger the acid, the weaker its conjugate base. The stronger the base, the weaker its conjugate acid.

There is an inverse relationship between acid and conjugate base/ base and conjugate acid.
