conjugate acids and bases

Postby Annie Ye » Thu Dec 05, 2019 1:09 pm

Are conjugate bases and acids always to the right of the chemical equation (products)?
Do conjugate bases and acids only form from bronstead acids and bases?

They're not always on "the right side" of the chemical equation because in an equilibrium equation the reaction goes both "forward" and "backwards" so reactants become products which become reactants etc. The conjugate bases and acids are always opposite from their corresponding acids and bases respectively.

It would be helpful to first determine which are the acids and bases in the equation, and then label the conjugates as the opposite corresponding molecule.
