Weak Acid and Weak Base

Postby Francesca Genera 3F » Mon Nov 30, 2015 8:56 pm

What would happen if you had a weak acid and weak base reacting? Is this even plausible? Thanks!

Weak acids and weak bases do not fully dissociate into ions at equilibrium (in water).
Calculating pH of these solutions similar method by using ICE table, Ka or Kb constants, etc. in the similar way to calculate strong acids/base.
One thing to be mindful is that if the initial concentration of weak acid or base is close/less than 10^-7 M, then solution is dilute.
