Fundamentals J.7 Book Problem

Postby Lindsay Beckwith 2B » Sat Dec 04, 2021 6:39 pm

J.7 Select an acid and a base for a neutralization reaction that results in the formation of (a) potassium bromide; (b) zinc nitrite; (c) calcium cyanide,
(d) potassium phosphate. Write the balanced equation for each reaction.

How do we know which acids and bases to use, especially if they're not a common one?

You can split these particular molecules into cations and anions (ex: potassium bromide can be split into K+ and Br-). The cations will bind to OH- since they have opposite charges, and the anions will bind to H+ since they have opposite charges. Hope this helps!!
