Textbook problem 6D.3

Postby isaiah_granados_2l » Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:35 am

Hi,

I was setting up my ice table and got the equilibrium concentration for HClO2 [0.10-x], H3O+ [1.2], and ClO2-[1.2]. However, when I looked at the answer key they set 10^-1.2 . Why do we do this. I thought pH was already the hydronium concentration

The pH is not already the hydronium concentration, as pH is calculated by pH - log[H3O+]
