### Comparing Weak vs. Strong Acids and Bases

What is another way to distinguish between strong and weak acids and bases other than comparing dissociation constants (Ka and Kb)?

The main difference between strong and weak acids or bases is in the degree of dissociation. Strong acids completely ionize, releasing all the hydrogen ions. Weak bases, only partially ionize. It is a good idea to memorize the 7 strong acids and the 7 strong bases.

Also, if it is a weak bond then more H+ ions will go into water and therefore its a strong acid

For acids we can also look at the strength/length of a bond between H-A as well as the characteristics of oxoacids which depend on the electronegativity of the atoms in an acid.
