Approximation of x
Can we only assume x is negligible (after ICE table) if the reaction is with a weak acid?

Yes! Professor Lavelle mentioned that anytime the K value is less than 10^-3, the approximation of x in the reactant-x is negligible.

Yes, we can assume that x is negligible if the K value is less than 10^(-3), and today in class, Lavelle said that all weak acids will have a K value less than 10^(-3). So you can do it for all weak acids.

Just keep in mind that only the x in the (reactant-x) is negligible. The other changes in concentration for the products still have to be considered.
