### Equilibrium Constant

How can the acidity constant and basicity constant be used to find the equilibrium constant? Is there a relationship between the two?

Kb and Ka are related in the following way:

Kb = (Kw) / (Ka),

where Kw = 1.0 x 10-14.

### Re: Equilibrium Constant

I was actually wondering if Kb and Ka had a relationship with Kc, I know the relationship with Kw.

### Re: Equilibrium Constant

The acidity constant is the concentration of the products of the acid dissociation reaction over the reactants (this gives you your kA). The basicity constant is the concentration of the products of the base over the reactants (this gives you your Kb). The stronger an acid, the weaker its conjugate base. The stronger the base, the weaker its conjugate acid.
kA x kB = kW = 10^-14

Oh sorry, I did not see the other post. Anyways, Kc and Keq are the same and Kw is just a specific type of Kc that has to do with the formation of ions and water I believe.

No that's fine, thank you!

Is it then that Ka and Kb are inversely proportional?

### Re: Equilibrium Constant

Yes, because their product is the constant Kw.
