What to know for the final

Postby TanveerDhaliwal3G » Sat Nov 30, 2019 9:42 pm

Neither section 6C.1, the Acidity and Basicity Constants section, nor section 6C.2, the Conjugate Seesaw section, were assigned in the reading or homework problems. Will we need to know about these topics and if so what do we need to know.

i don't think so. we should just stick with what has been assigned for reading and homework and what dr. lavelle talks about in lecture!

I would assume it would not be on the final and that only lecture content and readings will be covered

I wouldn't think this will be on the final because all topics that are covered are in the outline. But I'm not 100% sure because Dr Lavelle usually puts an asterisk next to topics on Chemistry Community if they aren't relevant to the midterm/final. I would definitely ask to make sure.

Dr. Lavelle posted a reply that we may be asked about the conjugate seesaw on the final! We may be asked to identify the strong acids/bases and their weaker conjugate bases/acids with relation to each other, or to identify both the strong acid/base and the weaker base/acid with relation to the seesaw.

Conjugate Seesaw is not tested upon in 14A, it is 14B material.

I would focus on the concepts in all of the outlines only.

Because they are not assigned they will most likely not be on the final I wouldn't look at those sections.
