Strong Acids

How can you tell whether an acid is strong or weak? Would you consider relative acidity to do so?

It's helpful to memorize the list of strong acids: HBr, HI, HCl, HNO3, H2SO4, HClO4, HClO3

Yes, I was also told by my TA that it would be easiest just to memorize the above list for strong acids.
