Weak Acid vs Weak Base equations

Postby Craig_Choi_2A » Wed Mar 13, 2024 3:08 pm

I just wanted some clarification that when evaluating a weak acid, OH- will appear on the right side of our chemical equation and when evaluating a weak base, H3O+ will appear on the right side of our chemical equation instead of OH?

Yes, acids tend to form H3O+ in solutions while bases form OH- in solutions. Weak acids/bases form very little of H3O+/OH- in solutions though.
