Calculate the pH of the following solutions:

b) .055 M AlCl3 (aq)

Why does the solution manual replace AlCl3 with Al(H20)6 in the explanation? I noticed that it did the same thing in 12.65 (d).

This compound is replaced with the hydrate because that compound is immediately formed by AlCl3 when in water.
